Crowns

Crowns

Crowns protect and strengthen tooth structure that is brittle, weakened, or badly broken and cannot be restored with fillings. Crowns cover the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. They are custom made to fit your bite and match the color of your tooth. At Beussink Family, we utilize the latest technology that allows us to do all of this in office and in only one appointment.

Reasons a crown would be needed

  • Tooth is broken or fractured
  • Tooth has had a root canal-this is standard of care because after a tooth has had a root canal it can become brittle
  • Extensive decay
  • Large fillings – if the main biting surface is over half filling or is too broad to properly buildup
  • Cosmetic reasons – darkened, misaligned, unfavorable shape

Many insurances consider crowns as a “major” service, but don’t let that scare you. By using the latest in technology, it makes this procedure much easier on you; the patient.

Because of this technology, we are able to fabricate a crown in just one appointment.  The benefits for you are …..

  • Less down time
  • No goopy impressions
  • No waiting 2 weeks in a temporary crown

An extra benefit is that there is no additional charge with this advance technology of the one-day crown vs. traditional crown.

How This Process is Done

  • Digital scans, which takes the place of those messy impressions.
  • Prep the tooth – to remove any decay and build up if needed
  • After another digital scan, the patient gets to take a break while the new crown is designed and milled
  • Next we will try-in the crown, followed by another break for the patient while the crown is finished up
  • Then the new crown if cemented in place and a final check picture is taken.
  • After checking the bite, we will go over care instructions and then the patient is ready to go.
